I started writing this blog in January 2014 as a way of documenting my experiments in vegetarian food. Three years ago me and my husband attempted to became vegetarians (with various degrees of success!) There were several reasons why we wanted to opt for a plant based diet but predominately it was because we felt strongly about the welfare of animals. We started getting a weekly vegetable box which meant that we had to eat seasonally and cook with some veggies that we didn't even know existed! We have also tried to learn a bit about nutrition along the way, like where we get our protein and calcium from.
On top of this I have got an incredibly sweet tooth! This is something that I have been trying to control over the last few years, so in this blog you will see some alternative versions of my favourite sweet treats re-invented to satisfy my sugar cravings with out any of the refined nasty stuff.
I write these recipes out of our tiny studio apartment in London with a two ring hob, a temperamental oven and a trusty old blender. On the whole most of the recipes here are diary free and gluten free but not always, and I do try and give alternatives to some of the ingredients I use. Take a look at the 'Little Note' section at the end of each entry, this is where I add tips and alternative ingredients. There were some disasters and some successes along the way so as an attempt of creating our own recipe journal we set about documenting the more tasty experiments in this blog.
